Test Shoot

Recently in college we did a test shoot with the photographer Lorna Fitzsimons. We were paired up and our brief was to explore current trends for the season. My friend Sinead and I took inspiration from the futuristic/sci-fi theme that was big for AW12. It was our first shoot so we could choose any clothes that fit our brief and pull items from stores if we wanted. Sinead and I used mostly our own clothes and styled 2 looks. We had two great models and their makeup and hair was kept really simple and slick because we had a lot of strong colours and textures in the shoot. It was a great experience working with the photographer and models trying to achieve the right image and angles. In the end we were able to edit and publish one or two of the best images from each look styled. Here they are! If they look like images of another vortex (maybe!) then mission accomplished!

feeling FESTIVE!

Ok so I donned my Christmas jumper yesterday on Christmas Eve, but I had this planned for my Christmas Day Outfit (CDO). The CDO is the stuff of magic, I try to make it my best outfit of the year... I just LOVE planning what I'm wearing in advance then wearing it. Simple pleasures eh!? The purpose of the CDO is twofold, firstly it must be worn for religious ceremonies and meeting people in the morning, then reinstated for the yuletide meal (twas delicious by the by!) A forgiving and well concealed waistband is usually preferred. I stuck to whipping up garlic butter when I was helping with dinner, fearing for the pristine whiteness of my skirt! It's quite the haute cuisine recipe- chop up a LOAD of garlic into chunks and lob it into some butter. Artisan.

Everything I'm wearing is vintage and I got the skirt and blouse in Om Diva in Dublin, which is basically retail and vintage heaven. I adore the place.

The Usual Suspects

Since starting my internship, I've been wearing darker, more muted colours for work days but then when I'm not working, I need an extreme dose of colour! This certainly fuels my penchant for pastels, which, as I've said before, is a-ok for Winter in my humble opinion! Yeah, keeping the trend alive! While I might still be stuck in SS12 fashion-wise, the weather sure isn't. There's been a big temperature drop in the last few days- which explains my red face/hands and the uninspiring poses.

Back to the Blog!

It's been so awful not posting this last while.. An absolute procrastination sensation! It's all my fault, I broke my camera again so taking Lookbook pics wasn't really possible and then I was doing other things, namely NEGLECTING postage! I'm doing some fun things at the minute on my Fashion Industry Practice course in college and I've also started an internship! So I'm going to get my camera fixed, start posting looks again and really get this blog back on track.. Hurray! :)

Funderful Fotos!

My dear sister advised me to have some fun with the pictures in this look.. It's hard to be pensive and serious in pictures all the time! It's strange that it's these ones though, seeing as the outfit is quite serious and dark! I thrifted the jumper ages ago and decided one day that I wanted my disco pants' high waistliness to be seen so i chopped around it, conserving the modesty at the back! I got the skirt when I went on a flying one day visit to London for the Olympic triathlon in August. The jumper reminds me of the bog with the sludge-y colours and dash of heather purple and golden brown. Poetic rant over!
